Singer-Songwriter Keni Titus Releases First EP. “Juliet”
Fresh off her first tour, 22 year old singer songwriter Keni Titus is making waves in the indie pop world with her new EP, Juliet.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Titus has been releasing music for several years, tapping into rich acoustic sounds and intimate lyricism.
Released on all platforms on September 6, her emotionally charged EP includes her lead single, think I got a bad idea. Her writing is reminiscent of exploring identity, letting go and growing up, being carefree, and trusting your intuition. Think I got a bad idea is a powerful statement of self-identity, and lays the foundation of the EP thematically while also being the outlier in regards to performance and production. The song utilizes an indie rock flow with panned, distorted guitars, and is the most resemblant of “pop” music of all the tracks, while still giving glimpses of the lush vocal harmonies and moments of ambient production that gel the rest of the EP together.
Titus’ storytelling and raw vocals sit well with the acoustic guitar and strings, a common instrumentation throughout the sonics of all the tracks on Juliet. Stripped down verses rub up against vocal harmonies and reverb choruses, fitting the pockets of plucking guitars and strings. All the while, classic indie drums give us a nice groove and keep everything moving. Juliet is a beautifully cohesive and intelligent EP.
